To all of you who read 1hundredsixty8 regularly, thank you. I appreciate your interest.
I have been writing these essays on the substack platform for two-and-a-half years. They are a successor to the original 168 blog that I began as a personal exercise in organizing and expressing my ideas and opinions. Of course, like any writer, I appreciate responses, whether they agree or disagree with my take on an issue. I encourage you to express yourself by Replying.
I would also like your help in growing my small subscriber base. As you know, the newsletter is free. Paid subscriptions are set at the minimum by the platform allows ($5.00 per month, or $50.00 per year). While I would welcome more paid subscribers, my goal is to add more readers so the potential for real substantive discussion is realized. To that end, I would like each of you to spread the word, either by providing the link for the newsletter to others or even emailing me the email addresses of people I can add to the free subscriber list.
What I’m aiming for is an elucidation of complex issues that other sources deal with in a simplistic manner. The motto of the predecessor 168 blog was “Thoughts and Opinions to Provoke Discussion”. That remains my goal.
Finally, please respond with your own thoughts about my project: Are the topics you would like me to explore? Am I succeeding in perhaps providing you with a different slant, an alternate point of view, on an issue you feel is important? In short, how can I improve the newsletter?
