Is the US really getting back to normal or are many of us engaging in wishful thinking? About 55% of the eligible population has received at least one vaccine shot; slightly less than half are fully vaccinated. The rate of people receiving their first shot has decreased. While the overall case count is down nationwide, “hot spots” are reported that are bringing calls for measures such as mask-wearing and social distancing to be reinstated. And variants of the virus, including the latest, Delta, seem to be spreading.
So, do you think the worst has passed or are many of us wary of another outbreak?
Like I stated at the start of the pandemic, we do have a good understanding how viruses work. I predicted that the virus, while more dangerous than the flu, will behave very similar. My primary physicians always urged me to get a flu shot while quoting a 50% plus efficacy. They did predict a less severe and shorter duration of symptoms though. Sound familiar? I have been trying to live a healthy life and can't even remember the last time I had the flu. Take care of yourself and quit dictating people what to do. Educating them might get way better results. Scientific data should trump drama. BTW, Pam wants me to interject, "eat lots of garlic!"
