The mob that invaded the Capitol on January 6 attacked the idea of a democratic republic that has endured for better and for worse for 230 years. While many participants have been ensnared in the criminal justice system, questions about the failed insurrection remain. The House voted today to establish an independent commission with some Republican support. Senate Republicans are poised to oppose the commission, stating clearly that reviewing events of the post-2020 period might hurt their chances in the 2022 elections.
Do you support the idea of an independent commission modeled on the 9/11 commission? Or do you think investigations by law enforcement and Congress are sufficient? Or should the nation move on and put the events of January 6 behind us?
The more light that is shown on the events of Jan 6, the better. Certainly law enforcement
should pursue a vigorous investigation. A 9/11 type commission is also needed. I've become quite cynical about congressional hearings. They generally turn into partisan circuses.
Can someone enlighten me? Did the 9/11 commission hold public hearings?

The 9/11 Commission held 12 public hearings.
If a Jan 6 commission holds public hearings I don’t see any use for congressional hearings
