For a nation whose Constitution was drafted by men whose thinking was influenced by the philosophical principles of the Enlightenment, it is significant that anti-intellectualism has been, as Issac Asimov stated, “a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.'”
