Every election cycle candidates are elected because they claim the previously elected guys are bad. So how come they keep getting worse? We're getting what we deserve.

My view is that a high percentage of Americans may get the government they deserve, but I don't deserve what's going on and neither does my family. We've had the Age of Reason, The Age of Innocence, and now we have The Age of Ignorance. Mark Twain and HL Mencken enjoyed making fun of the goings on in their respective eras. What would they think of what's going on today?
